We take the high-to-low range of the last 60 one-minute BTC/USDT candles on Binance, as a percentage of price, and divide it by the median hourly range of the previous 168 completed hours (7 days). Under 0.5× reads Quiet, 0.5–0.85× Calm, 0.85–1.3× Steady, 1.3–2× Active, above 2× Restless. It describes how much the price is moving, not where it goes next.
